Dar es Salaam, 18th June, 2012: Tanzania’s leading communications company, Vodacom has announced a new internet campaign, enabling customers to access browse for as little as Tsh 250 per day.
The campaign, dubbed Wajanja Internet Campaign, will see internet consumers browse, stream and download materials faster and cheaply on the Vodacom TZ network. Facebook and twitter access will however, continue to be free for all customers
Vodacom TZ Managing Director, Rene Meza, said the company is committed to making it easy for customers to understand pricing for volume or time-based internet which has been quite complicated and confusing among internet consumer across the country.
He said it was becoming increasingly important for all service providers like Vodacom to reduce the compexities that hinder ease of use for new information and communication technologies.
“We have structured our internet offering in a way that can be easily understood by our customers since we believe that this is the best way to promote increased internet usage for social and economic development. Both pre-paid and post-paid customers can now experience faster connections on both wireless devices and on plug-ins such as modems,” Rene noted.
He further disclosed that according to the new structure, Vodacom internet consumers will now get unlimited internet access for 7days at only Tshs 10,000 or 30 days at TShs 30,000 at full speed.
To purchase the bundles, one has to dial *149*01# and to get the full listing of the internet services one should SMS the word Vodacom internet to 15300 for free.
So far, Vodacom TZ has the widest 3G coverage in the country having invested over TShs 2 billion (about $1.3 million) in expansion of its internet infrastrucuture. Already, the investments have enabled more Tanzanians to take advantage of the new mobile phone technologies for social and economic development.
